MSU gets shut out at Ferris State 3-0

In the second half of a split MSU-Ferris State series, the Bulldogs came out victorious by a score of 3-0.

The first period was scoreless and both teams were evenly matched with shots equal at seven.

Ferris State pulled ahead in the second period when Bulldogs’ Garrett Thompson hit the puck off MSU freshman goaltender Jake Hildebrand’s back to score a power play goal.

Less than five minutes later, Thompson struck again with a breakaway goal.

Thompson finished off his hat trick with an empty-net goal with 33 seconds left in the game.

The Spartans now fall to 5-12-3 overall, 4-9-1-0 in the CCHA.

MSU’s next game will be Jan. 11 against Notre Dame.
