On Thursday evening at the Marriott at University Place, 300 M.A.C. Ave., paintings from all over the world will flood the hotel for Art for Charlie.
The fundraiser is hosted by Lyman Briggs professor John Waller and his wife Abigail in hopes of raising money for their foundation, which will donate a percentage of earnings to Sparrow Hospital’s new pediatric hospice and palliative care initiatives. The remainder will be used to support bereaved families, John Waller said.
Beginning at 6 p.m., the evening will consist of an art show, silent auction, featured guest speakers, live music and refreshments.
Tickets can be purchased prior to the event for $35.
After their 4-year-old son Charlie was diagnosed about a year and a half ago with a malignant brain tumor, the Wallers held a fundraiser last year and used some of the funds to help Charlie Waller.
Abigail Waller said this year’s event is not focused on her family; it is about and for the entire community.
