The MSU Board of Trustees addressed the racist incidents that have been reported on campus this past week at their meeting Friday.
In light of the recent racist incidents reported on Michigan State University's campus, two peaceful protests have been scheduled for this upcoming weekend — one on Friday before the Board of Trustees meeting, and one on Sunday.
After an MSU Sona survey with racist, homophobic and transphobic slurs was released and received backlash from the university community, the College of Communication Arts and Sciences announced it will be holding a forum on Oct. 29.
"MSU needs to hold people accountable for acts of discrimination. Racism on campus is inexcusable in every instance, it’s not a joke or a prank."
After two reported racist incidents on Michigan State's campus this week, students and members of the community held a forum to discuss their concerns. Two protests are also scheduled for this upcoming weekend.

Michigan State is facing backlash after the university's Sona survey website included prompts containing racist, transphobic, xenophobic and homophobic slurs. The survey was meant to study evaluations of social media posts, measuring them in terms of their aggressiveness and offensiveness.
Executive Director of REHS Dr. Ray Gasser sent out an email to the MSU community, apologizing about an incident that happened in Bryan Hall over the weekend and how it was originally deemed as a "Halloween prank" by REHS.
A student reported an incident in Bryan Hall at Michigan State involving a toilet paper noose taped to a resident’s door on Friday. The MSUPD is currently investigating the incident.
