More than 200 MSU students impacted by Trump travel ban

President Donald Trump signed a proclamation Wednesday evening that bans citizens from 12 countries from entering the U.S. and imposes heightened restrictions on seven others. The move is the Trump administration’s latest effort to tighten immigration rules, placing MSU international students and scholars in uncertain territory.

MSU advises international students to remain in the U.S.

The Office for International Students and Scholars at Michigan State University sent out an email earlier this week warning international students not to travel outside of the U.S. The decision follows reports that the U.S. Department of State has temporarily suspended visa interviews for international students intending to study in the United States.

Misconduct cases undercut MSU Police’s 'trauma-informed' efforts

Campus police sometimes struggled to properly respond to cases of Relationship Violence and Sexual Misconduct. One officer suggested a survivor was “making stuff up.” Another questioned a survivor’s credibility based on the way they recounted what had happened to them. Yet another violated widely-circulated protocols requiring employees to report suspected violations of RVSM to an investigatory body. And sometimes, DPPS employees themselves faced accusations of sexual misconduct.
