The Louisiana-based company opened doors in East Lansing this morning, with a line of customers wrapping around the block. Raising Cane’s said they had around 25 customers stay overnight for the opening.
As a federally qualified health center, or FQHC, the center looks to ensure health equity by serving medically underserved populations, and provides care regardless of insured status or ability to pay, Ingham County Health Officer Linda Vail said.
The restaurant, located at 301 Grand River Ave., off the corner of M.A.C. Avenue, will serve customers from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m., Sunday to Wednesday, and 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
The trio came to MSU’s campus as part of a pre-election push for voter turnout amongst young people, though the majority of the event’s crowd was noticeably older than the target demographic.
"It just wouldn’t be the same if (the bus stop) was removed,” Lansing resident and everyday CATA rider Caleb Ligget said.
"They're going to need to have great leadership. I thought they had great leadership," Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer said at a campaign event today. "I'll be watching very closely. I'm concerned about it."
Regardless of their agenda, one thing is for certain – the thing that continues to bring alumni back on homecoming weekend is their love for MSU.
BluThreads has had two pop-up shops since the start of the business, and Timmerman will be taking her designs to the second floor of the Landmark on Grand River on Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. for her third.

For collectors, this venue was the perfect place to find additions to their collections and connect with vendors from farther away than they might typically have access to.
“I really think that Michigan State students have the opportunity to decide this election, full stop,” Slotkin said.

The Michigan State University Department of Police and Public Safety recently welcomed Maria Valayil as their new full time police social worker. The police social worker accompanies officers on welfare checks and follows up on incidents that may indicate an individual in the MSU community is struggling with their mental health. Valayil’s role will shift the department towards a structure in which police officers and social workers can work together in responding to mental health emergencies.
