Broad Care Center debuts in the Eppley Center

The Broad Care Center has made its debut at the Eppley Center, located between the Minskoff Pavilion and the North Business Building. The Care Center aims to be a resource that anyone affiliated with the Broad College of Business can utilize to access a variety of supplies, ranging from basic necessities such as food, water and personal hygiene items, to household cleaning supplies.

Motown leaves lasting impact on music, culture

Motown was a record label based in Detroit that was a powerhouse of hits in the 1960s and 1970s. Motown musicians, all of whom were Black performers, are often regarded as some of the most influential artists, with impacts that are felt in virtually every genre today. MSU and East Lansing community members reflect on the history and impact of Black music on American culture, and on their own musical journeys.

MSU student creates power bars to help relieve hypoglycemia

Advertisement management junior Yashika Ramchandani created T100 Pro Bars, power bars geared towards people with diabetes and hypoglycemia, after her sister was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. The limited food options for those with these conditions inspired Ramchandani to create the bar, which is an authentic Indian recipe. She hopes to have the product on the market by the end of April.

Tri-Alpha creates opportunities for first-generation students

There are resources at MSU for first-generation students, but there were no student-based organizations meant for all first-gen students until biomedical laboratory diagnostics senior Momin Hassan opened a chapter of Tri-Alpha this semester. Tri-Alpha is a national first-generation student honor society and it provides networking and leadership opportunities for these students and recognizes their academic achievement.

Students combat homesickness through dorm decor, family connections

For many students, college is the first time they have had to live on their own, making it easy to get homesick. Every student has their own method of dealing with the emotions that come with being separated from their communities, from keeping in touch with friends and family, to decorating dorm rooms, to making new friends.

Students celebrate Black history through art, performance at open mic night

Through sharing their creativity, experiences and talents, students celebrated Black History Month on Monday, Feb. 24 with Open Mic Night and Storytelling: Black Voices. All students were encouraged to perform and celebrate in the McDonel Kiva with any creative medium. Students enjoyed dinner and discussion with peers while sharing their art through song, spoken word and comedy acts.
