The Islamic Center of East Lansing celebrates Ramadan, promotes community

Within the month of Ramadan, many people throughout the world celebrate a time of fasting, abstinence, praying, and self-reflection. During this time, Muslims in East Lansing find companionship and community within the Islamic Center of East Lansing. Islamic Center of East Lansing Trustee Thasin Sardar said that, in addition to fasting from dawn to dusk, "Muslims indulge increased spirituality, sharing meals with one another and increased charitable giving during this month."

MSU Black Book Initiative promotes Black belonging, community resources on campus

The Black student experience at MSU is an experience that does not get highlighted enough. This is a goal The Black Book Initiative wants to express and bring to the stage, signaling that the experience is valid and deserves to be heard equally. The book serves as a step towards promoting Black involvement on campus and Black belonging on campus, a feeling that most Black students at MSU will say they did not feel entering the university. Highlighting Greek life, faith, professional development, Black-owned businesses and many more, The Black Book is an item to signify safe spaces for Black students and students of color on and off campus.

How to approach spring cleaning in an eco-friendly way

Household cleaning chemicals are known to leech into our soil, water and air, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. These chemicals find their way into the environment through aerosolized sprays, surface runoff into waterways, and from pouring used products down the drain. This spring, some students that wish to clean their house and reduce stress on the environment are using home-made alternative cleaners.

Waka Flocka Flame, Between Friends rock MSU's campus at annual spring concert

Michigan State University welcomed musical guests Waka Flocka Flame and Between Friends to the Breslin Center last night night, March 28, for the annual spring concert. The event was organized collaboratively by Impact 89 FM, Residence Halls Association, The Associated Students of MSU and the University Activities Board. Organizers worked diligently to figure out venue details, budget, scheduling and every other aspect of putting together this event for the MSU community.

MSU to host its first sexual health conference

Michigan State University will host its first sexual health conference on March 30, 2024 at the MSU Union. The conference was created and organized by two MSU students aiming to create a comfortable space for education and discussion surrounding the topic of sexual health.

MSU RSO Homeless Humanity seeks to bring awareness, aid to Lansing’s homeless population

When human biology junior Chloe Lohman and her roommates moved into a new apartment during the start of the fall semester, they noticed that people would rummage through the trash cans outside their building regularly. In response, they embarked on organizing a registered student organization that could help provide for the homeless community of East Lansing and Greater Lansing area. By the beginning of the spring semester, they had started Homeless Humanity.

How MSU students perceive dating rules in the age of social media trends

On social media, the trend of personal dating rules has been circulating around, where users write down their personal "make or break" dating rules on the "Notes" app on Apple's iPhones, take a screenshot, record themselves explaining each rule, and upload to social media. But how do these rules actually affect relationships and do people actually agree with the rules shown?

Is AI art a friend or foe? MSU students and faculty reflect

With a few keystrokes and the click of a button, Generative Artificial Intelligence can be used for a plethora of things, including creating “art.” This poses many concerns for artists, especially those who make their living in artistic fields of work. Many artists fear that generative AI is threatening their job security and making them “replaceable” in the eyes of employers.
