No. 1 Oklahoma ruins MSU's Senior Night

Competing in their final career meet Friday at Jenison Field House, seniors Rochelle Robinson and Nicole Curler set the tone with memorable launches that gave the No. 23 Spartans early momentum. Unfortunately for the Spartans, they saw a below-average performance on the bars, eventually falling 196.825-194.125 to the Sooners.

Following a nail-biting loss against No. 20 Illinois last weekend, the No. 22 MSU gymnastics team returned home Saturday and earned a 194.175-192.400 victory against New Hampshire at Jenison Field House.

Klages hopes gymnasts 'take it to next level' Sunday vs. Illinois

Despite coming off its two highest-scoring performances of the season, the No. 22 MSU gymnastics team only is thinking about scoring higher as it prepares for this weekend’s meet at Illinois. The Spartans scored a 194.550 in a second-place finish at Western Michigan last weekend after pulling together a season-best 194.875 the previous weekend against Ohio State.

Teike impressive in rookie campaign

After competing strongly in a national tournament as a 12-year-old, Shanthi Teike knew gymnastics was the right path for her. What she might not have expected was finding a lot of success this early in her collegiate career. Teike, a freshman MSU gymnast, has been one of the Spartans’ most consistent performers this season, regularly finishing in the top five and proving to be a nice complement to the team’s juniors and seniors.

Pink leotards, silent auction items, collection buckets and several other items provided a clear reminder of breast cancer’s impact in day-to-day life Saturday at the MSU gymnastics team’s fourth annual Jan Howard Flip for a Cure Breast Cancer Awareness Meet.

The No. 22 MSU gymnastics team broke a two-meet skid and soared past No. 25 Ohio State, 194.875 to 191.425, Saturday at Jenison Field House as several gymnasts finished with season-best performances.

The No. 22 MSU gymnastics team returns home this weekend to what’s expected to be a lively setting at the team’s annual Flip for a Cure meet at Jenison Field House. The Spartans will battle Ohio State at 1 p.m. Saturday and wear pink leotards to support breast cancer awareness.

Fresh off two consecutive weekends of multiteam competition, the MSU gymnastics team will take on No. 9 Florida on Saturday in East Lansing, hoping to earn some valuable experience against a seasoned SEC opponent before heading back out on the road this month.
