Lansing casino shows promising future

Gambling might not be a hobby MSU students easily can fulfill — students must travel about an hour in any direction to find the nearest casino. However, a proposed construction project might put a casino mere minutes from the university.

Twitter promotes class engagement

A few years ago, the social networking website Twitter gained popularity among citizens around the world. Although the 140-character posts, or “tweets,” the website prides itself on usually are used by students for recreational use, the website also is used by professors at MSU for educational purposes and many students who have not done so already should consider making a Twitter account for networking purposes.

Debate keeps Romney alive in election

Republican hopeful Mitt Romney’s campaign was considered to be killed before election day came. A few weeks ago, polls were showing Romney losing to President Barack Obama in key swing states. Plus, Romney’s gaffes, such as the now-infamous “47 percent” comments, substantially hurt his likeability among potential voters.

Firework ordinance must gain attention

The sale and use of aerial fireworks recently has been legalized in the state of Michigan, leaving some cities celebrating, and others worried about the safety of their residents. But in East Lansing, a recent city ordinance now is defining when and where residents can use fireworks, if at all.
