Statewide, the margin between Peters and James was much closer throughout the vote counting process.

The order requires USPS to identify incoming ballots and use extraordinary measures, such as Priority Mail Express, to deliver them by 8 p.m.
People still flocked to the polls in some spots near the campus of Michigan State. It wasn’t nearly what's normally seen in a presidential election year, but it was still surprising.
According to Director of Media Relations Tracy Wimmer, the statewide same-day registrations have now increased to 18,822 as of 4:30 p.m. from the 12,530 same-day voter registrations reported two hours ago. The number of ballots returned as of 4:30 p.m. is 3.2 million.
