Former MSU Police Deputy Chief Valerie O'Brien, who was placed on administrative leave with her husband and former MSU PD detective JJ Bradac in 2019, has returned after more than a year. Her husband, Bradac, is no longer employed by MSU or the department.
“Students just need to know this is what’s happening right now,” Ingham County Health Officer Linda Vail said. “You are setting the stage for not returning to face-to-face learning, not having an enjoyable basketball season, all of these things that you can count on in your college experience are not going to happen.”

Bennett currently works as the associate provost, inclusion and chief diversity officer at Northwestern university. Before that he was the associate dean, recruiting and professional development at Brown University’s graduate school.
Seventeen fraternities voted in favor of the moratorium. The vote, which took place in August, needed 19 votes to pass. "In actuality, MSU doesn’t have any sort of obligation to help us," Chase Maples said. "We are the ones who signed contracts, right, we are the ones who signed the leases. But on the other hand, we also had signed that not expecting there was going to be a global pandemic, expecting that we were going to be going to go to school full-time with in person teaching."
The motion will be voted on at next week's Board of Trustees meeting.
