Winning is always fun. And for seven of the last eight years, Spartan fans have been able to enjoy the luxury of a premier football program and hold bragging rights over Wolverine fans.
The Associated Students of Michigan State University are a mess. An organization that has never had a clean track record with its various initiatives involving the wrong spray paint on sidewalks and six-figure concerts that get delayed indefinitely, they've built up a reputation of hilarious incompetence, and the organization appears to be collapsing from the inside out this semester.
With MSU basketball’s freshman class being heralded as one of the best groupings of young talent in the country, and possibly MSU head coach Tom Izzo’s best recruiting class in 22 years at MSU, it’s understandable for there to be high expectations again this season for the team — but fans will have to be patient.
Through a recent BBC News article, Matt McGrath reports that more than 150 countries have made an amendment to the Montreal Protocol to phase out hydrofluorocarbons, or HFCs. The Montreal Protocol is an international treaty first created to ban chlorofluorocarbons, CFCs, to help repair the ozone layer. CFCs were used in refrigerators and air conditioners, but were ultimately replaced by HFCs, which were later discovered to act as a greenhouse gas. As a result of this agreement, global temperature rise is projected to be lessened by 0.5 degrees Celsius.
I’ve been to Michigan State a handful of times in my life, and it’s really not a terrible place. There’s some decent food, an admittedly solid dairy store and the second-best Rick’s American Café in the state.
Whether the odds were in their favor or not, the Spartan army of ancient Greece would back down from no challenge. Their tactics were not overpowering and their skills did not reign supreme, but sheer determination and will kept them atop their archaic state, cutting down challengers in their path.
