It’s rivalry week. While the Michigan State football team travels to Ann Arbor to take on the University of Michigan Saturday afternoon, the hockey team will play the Wolverines twice over the span of three days in a home-and-home series. Play will begin on the road at Yost Ice arena in Ann Arbor, Thursday at 6:30 p.m, then return to East Lansing for a Saturday night puck drop at 7:00 p.m.

It was a rough weekend for the Michigan State hockey team, getting swept at the hands of No. 4 Cornell. A bright spot in the Spartan lineup, however, and a possible future star of the team, was freshman center Josh Nodler. Nodler notched his first collegiate goal during Saturday’s 6-2 loss, relieving him of some pressure as his workload increases for the green and white.

The Spartans (2-4) hit the ice Saturday night unable to split the weekend series against a physical No. 4 Cornell (2-0) team. The green and white couldn't get anything going offensively for most of the game and, for the second night in a row, made frequent trips to the penalty box, losing 6-2 at Munn Ice Arena.
