Former Michigan State University guard Tre Holloman will play his final season of college basketball with North Carolina State.

After entering the transfer portal on April 1, less than two days after MSU’s Elite Eight loss to No. 1 Auburn, Holloman has found a new court to play on. As of now, he will be the main floor general for the Wolfpack, a team that was eyeing a guard after last season.

In the 2024-25 season, NC State finished 12-19 and 5-15 in conference play. The Wolfpack finished behind other ACC teams like Duke, Clemson and UNC; they finished 16th in an 18-team conference. Holloman will get to play UNC again after an incredible performance last season with MSU, where he scored 19 points and had seven assists and three steals in MSU’s 94-91 win over UNC in the Maui Invitational.

During his junior season, Holloman appeared in all 37 games and started the first 16. He averaged 9.1 points, 3.7 assists and 1.9 rebounds per game. He was known as a “sixth starter” and was also a captain. He scored in double figures 16 times and tallied at least four assists in 17 games.

Holloman joins head coach Will Wade as one of several new faces at NC State. Wade, now in charge of his fifth program, has previously led UT-Chattanooga, VCU, LSU and McNeese — guiding each to at least one NCAA Tournament appearance.

MSU and NC State will likely not meet during the next regular season.
