No. 8-ranked Michigan State University gymnastics earned the No. 2 seed in the 2025 NCAA Regional second round in University Park, Pennsylvania. This marks the Spartans' fourth consecutive bid and their highest seeding at Regionals in program history.
With the postseason approaching, two MSU gymnasts received individual honors: juniors Nikki Smith and Sage Kellerman.
Kellerman was named the conference’s first-ever Specialist of the Year, while Smith earned Big Ten Gymnast of the Year honors. She is the third Spartan in program history to receive this prestigious award.
Throughout the season, the Spartans have showcased impressive depth, consistently ranking in the top 10. Key performances from Smith and Kellerman have been crucial, as both gymnasts have been standout leaders, with Smith excelling on multiple apparatuses and Kellerman’s all-around contributions. As a team, MSU’s balance across events has put them in a strong position to challenge for the regional title.
The Spartans aim to win the University Park Regional after finishing fourth in last season's final.
“Our mantra in the beginning of the season has been its time,” Head Coach Mike Rowe said. “And we chose that for a reason because if anybody can do it this group can do it. They are still hungry for it.”
MSU gymnastics will compete in the first session on Thursday, April 3, at 1 p.m. at Rec Hall on the Penn State campus. The meet will feature Ohio State, No. 3 seed Kentucky, and Penn State. The event will be streamed on ESPN+.
