The MSU Surplus Store is known for its diverse range of items. From gyro meat to genetic analyzers, the store never seems to fall short. Soon, they'll add a new item to their inventory: the Breslin Center scoreboard.

The store took to Twitter on Wednesday to repost a photo of the scoreboard with the caption “Yes, it is coming to the store, but just not in one piece."

The Tweet quickly gained popularity from fans, receiving 833 likes and 67 retweets.

“Making room in my living room for this,” one fan tweeted. “Can I have one of everything?” another said.

People responded by calling dibs on pieces of the scoreboard that include the iconic Spartan helmet or a piece that has the “Spartans” header on it.

For those interested in buying, operations coordinator for the surplus center and recycling center, Chris Hewitt says they will have to wait some time for the board to be taken apart and processed by the store.

“It’s getting taken apart into lots of pieces so we don’t know until we get everything done when it’s going to be for sale or how we’re going to sell it,” he said.

Hewitt said that their choice to sell pieces of the board follows the store's mission, which is to resell items that are no longer needed in departments to divert them from going to a landfill.

“This is just like when any department gets rid of furniture or computers and we’re going through that same process, it just happens to be a very large scoreboard,” Hewitt said.

Hewitt said that they don’t know yet how many pieces the scoreboard will be broken up into nor what their prices will be.

For those interested in attempting to buy all the pieces and putting the scoreboard back together, Hewitt says it would be a complicated task.

“There are giant LED screens on the inside and then the light and then the wiring, the lighting and speakers. So I’m very doubtful that if someone were to buy everything they could get it working again,” he said.

For updates on when the pieces will go for sale, Hewitt directs potential buyers to keep checking the store’s Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts.

“We are happy to see the response online and how many people are interested in it, so whenever we have information that can be posted we will be sure to do that,” he said.
