MSU football chief of staff resigns after one season

July 6, 2021

Michigan State football Chief of Staff, Geoff Martzen, officially resigned after spending one season on Mel Tucker’s staff.

The university confirmed Martzen’s last official day was Friday, July 2.

Martzen made the announcement through his Twitter Tuesday morning.

Prior to transitioning to East Lansing for the head coach position, Mel Tucker spent the 2019-20 football season as the head coach at the University of Colorado Boulder, where — according to his LinkedIn — Martzen served as the Football Director of Player Personnel.

Tucker will now be looking for a new chief of staff following other adjustments and new hires during the offseason.
