The time has come. With the presidential election about two weeks away, today is the last day that Michiganders can register to vote online or by mail, if postmarked today's date.
If an individual misses today's deadline, don't fear — in-person voter registration is allowed at your city clerk's office as long as they provide a document that verifies in-state residency.
Similarly, you can also apply for and return an absent voter ballot to your clerk's office in the same trip until 8 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 3.
“With more than 1 million ballots already returned, we’re seeing an incredible amount of enthusiasm from Michiganders excited to participate in our democracy,” Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson said in a release. “Voters have more options than ever before for how to register and cast their ballot, and that’s why we’ve been working around the clock to ensure citizens understand those options and can exercise their rights in the way that works best for them.”
Michiganders who already possess their absentee ballots and plan to mail them in are encouraged to return them as soon as possible — no later than today.
Voters can also turn in their ballots at their city clerk's office or eligible ballot drop boxes. You can find more information about how to check your registration and find ballot drop box locations here. https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us/Voter/Index/#yourclerk
