The East Lansing City Council will hold a special public meeting on Thursday to review the findings of the East Lansing Police Department's internal investigation of excessive force.
The meeting is scheduled 6 p.m. in Courtroom 2 of the East Lansing 54B District Court according to the press release.
The investigation surrounds an allegation of police misconduct. ELPD Chief Larry Sparkes released a statement in response to the viral Facebook post accusing members of the ELPD of assault. Gasito alleges that the officers assaulted him for filming the arrest of Gasito's friend.
Members of the East Lansing area gathered outside ELPD in support of Uwimana Gasito, or Tito, on Feb. 23 in protest.
"The meeting will include a review of ELPD’s internal investigation and the findings of that investigation. The meeting will also include a review of the video footage gathered as a part of the investigation," said the press release.
The meeting will also be streamed at https://cityofeastlansing.civicweb.net/Portal.
The City of East Lansing also warned potential viewers that the meeting will contain profanity and thus will not be televised due to Federal Communications Commission (FCC) restrictions.
