Michigan State President Samuel L. Stanley, Jr. has planned three meetings with sexual assault survivors this fall, in line with what he said he would do when first appointed.

These meetings are meant to discuss any concerns survivors have as well as input on how to improve MSU’s sexual assault program, a recent press release from MSU Today announced.

Three meetings have been planned, the first being from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 30 in the MSU Ballroom. This meeting invites any sexual assault survivors, whether they are students, faculty or staff.

The second meeting will focus specifically on the Larry Nassar-related court cases and will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 8 at the East Lansing Public Library.

A third, web-based meeting via Zoom is also scheduled for those who do not feel comfortable in a public setting from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 16.

Feedback from these meetings — in combination with the results from the spring 2019 campus-wide climate survey — will be reviewed by the Relationship Violence and Sexual Misconduct Expert Advisory Workgroup and Stanley in order to better the climate at MSU.

Survivors can bring a family member or support person with them to meetings. Representatives from the MSU Sexual Assault Program will also be in attendance to provide support for survivors and their families.

Along with Stanley, newly appointed advisers Dr. Rebecca Campbell and Lt. Andrea Munford will be attending all meetings as well as University Ombudsperson Shannon Lynn Burton, who will be a moderator for all gatherings.

For those interested in attending any of these meetings, an RSVP Portal is open for registration and is anonymous.
