Nassar to be sentenced for 7 sex assault charges, victims to speak
Ex-MSU and USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar will appear in Ingham County’s circuit court next week for sentencing by Judge Rosemarie Aquilina.
Sentencing begins at 9 a.m. on Jan. 16 and could continue through Jan. 19, depending on the time necessary for victim impact statements.
Nassar was sentenced in a federal child pornography case in Grand Rapids last month. He received the maximum sentence, 60 years for three counts.
He pleaded guilty to seven first-degree criminal sexual assault charges in Ingham County, and agreed to a minimum sentence of 25-40 years. The maximum sentence Nassar could face for these charges is life in prison.
Nassar will face additional sentencing by Judge Janice Cunningham in Eaton County circuit court on Jan. 31.
