A 12-story building will be built on Grand River Avenue with 273 rental units above an urban Target store on the first floor. 

On Albert Avenue, a four-floor parking garage and retail space will be built where Lot 1 currently is. The garage will create 620 parking spaces, of which 302 are for public use.

Five stories of senior housing will be built on top of the garage.

There will be 57 full-time jobs created when the project is completed in the summer of 2019, according to the release.

The Park District Project currently does not have development plan as the most recent version fell through, but new plans are expected. The blighted buildings occupying the proposed development site are also expected to come down in early October.

Additionally, a 10-story building of student apartments might be built on the corner of Bogue Street and Grand River Avenue, Mayor Mark Meadows said.

“If they haven’t filed it, they’re about to file an application for a student apartment building,” Meadows said. “This would be one of the newer options that are available for students, and it would include studios, ones, twos.”

It will also have some apartments with three bedrooms, but the city has a limitation on the number that can be in a building, Meadows said.

“There’s a full range of opportunities in there,” Meadows said. “I’m hoping that they get it in and we can get that going.”
