Week in Review: October 16, 2015

October 16, 2015

Hello Spartans, here are your top stories for the week.

It’s rivalry week here at MSU, and the Spartans are preparing for a great matchup against the Wolverines. MSU is ranked 7th in the AP Poll and U-M is ranked 12th.

The two teams are currently in a four-way tie for first place in the Big Ten East with Ohio Sate and Penn State. The game is at 3:30 p.m. at the Big House in Ann Arbor and will be shown on ESPN.

The rivalry is already showing off the field. The Magic Johnson statue outside the Breslin Center was found vandalized on Thursday morning. The statue’s chest was painted with a yellow ‘M’ and the base of the statue said “beat state” in yellow paint.

A sidewalk in front of the MSU Union also was vandalized with the Michigan M painted in blue and yellow.

Journalism professor Bonnie Bucqueroux died on Wednesday. Bucqueroux taught in the school of journalism for 29 years, and was a community journalist and progressive activist. She most notably taught JRN 108, a required class for all journalism majors and a popular elective.

Those were your top stories for the week. Have a great weekend, Spartans. Go Green!
