Ballet coming to Wharton Center Thursday

April 14, 2015

The Aspen Santa Fe Ballet will showcase their talents on Thursday at the Wharton Center at 7:30 P.M.

Part of the Wharton Center's "Dance Series" The Aspen Santa Fe Ballet will feature three very distinct pieces with each one showing a different point of view through dancing.

The first piece, called "Square None," is by Norbert de La Cruz III, and will showcase athleticism, abstraction, and grace with an eclectic score along with dynamic lighting.

The next peice is called "Return to a Strange Land" by Jiri Kylian and is a softer piece of work. The background will feature music played on the piano and will include lots of partner performances.

The last piece the company will perform is "Heart(s)pace" by Nicolo Fonte. Fonte created this particular piece to stand apart against the dark and edgy work most of contemporary dance gets dominated by. This dance is inspired by love, compassion and the human element and has been well received since it debuted last year.

Led by artistic director Tom Mossbrucker, who has been running the program for almost 20 years. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the Wharton Center at 517-432-2000.
