Heaping sheets of rain fell on East Lansing Tuesday, and the sky turned black. So long, Spartan Spectacular — at least for now.
Associate Director of the Department of Student Life Tammye Coles said said events are usually rescheduled “within a month’s time," but cautioned that “I wouldn’t say that it would be very soon.”
“One of the primary things that we always want is to be safe,” Coles said. “We just did not want to do anything that would in any way jeopardize anybody’s safety.”
She said there was also concern that the wet field may have turned Sparticipation into a very muddy event.
Although Tuesday marked the second year running the student group fair was affected by inclement weather, Coles said there are no plans to adjust the event next year.
“Several years prior to this and last year ... we have had exemplary weather,” Coles said.
