Board of Trustees to decide on 3 percent tuition increase Friday

June 19, 2014

The Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet Friday and vote on a proposed tuition increase of 3 percent for the upcoming  2014-15 school year. The increase would translate to about $385 more per student for a full class load. If the board approves the increase, this will be the fourth consecutive tuition hike.

The meeting will take place in the Board Room of the Hannah Administration Building following the board's two-day retreat.

Improvements to multiple campus facilities will be up for the board's approval, including the Duffy Daugherty Football Building, which would receive renovations to the locker and training rooms. Breslin Center would also receive upgrades to its concourse and concessions areas and enhancements designed to save energy.

John Baker's promotion to the dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine will be addressed for board approval. The promotion would come with an increase in salary to $250,000.

Various professors' salaries and tenures will also be addressed during the meeting.

President Lou Anna K. Simon and the board chairman will give reports to the board during the meeting and the public will be addressed on different issues before the meeting adjourns.
