Unable to be present for her speech, Samra sent in a video speech for the general assembly to watch, but arrived for the announcement of her win.

"I’m happy that I still have the ability to be a part of the Office of the President and continue to make a positive impact on the spartan experience," she said.

ASMSU President James Conwell said he was excited to begin working with the newly elected vice presidents.

"I think they're all wonderful Spartan leaders...I think we can collaborate and be a cohesive Office of the President and work together to make a real difference for the undergraduate student body of MSU," he said.

Former College of Music representative K.C. Perlberg was voted into the vice president for governmental affairs position.

Perlberg said he will work with registering students to vote and be involved directly with legislation that affects students.

"There is no substitute for in person face to face interaction," Perlberg said. "I am willing to do that work."

In his speech, he said his experience working closely with former Vice President for Governmental Affairs Jessica Leacher helped him get to know the position and make connections with City of East Lansing officials in order to create beneficial change for students.

The general assembly also elected new officers for the vice president for internal administration and vice president for student allocations.

Kathryn Maass won against Jamayl Martin and Evan Schrage becoming vice president for internal administration. 

"It's my responsibility to make sure the students are being represented," Maass said. "A s long as I'm pushing the reps to be innovative,  then it will reflect positively on the student body."

Maass said she is excited to be elected and plans to reach out to each member of the general assembly individually to develop closer relationships and assist them with goals for their constituents.

Domonique Clemons was elected for vice president for student allocations. Clemons was instrumental in creating this position, which resulted from a merge between two previous funding boards.

"The first thing I want to do is to set up ... one-on-one meetings with the (Council of Racial and Ethnic Students groups) and (Council of Progressive Students groups) leaders to make sure that they’re clear on (funding processes)," Clemons said.

Clemons said he hopes to build stronger relationships with student organizations and increase ASMSU attendance at funded events.

The general assembly also voted to allow President Conwell to elect an interim vice president for academic affairs during the summer and hold an official election in the fall 2014 semester. 

Elections on the position were postponed given the fact that Conwell was running for it uncontestedly.
