Women's basketball leads Marist, 25-16, at half time of NCAA Tournament first round game

College Park, Md. – Junior forward Annalise Pickrel scored the last 11 points for the MSU basketball team as they lead Marist 25-16 after the first half of their first round game of the NCAA tournament.

Marist scored the first five points of the game, but the Spartans went on a 9-0 run to take the lead.

The first six shots for the Spartans were 3-pointers, and they only hit one of them. They ended the half shooting 10-26 from the floor and 5-14 from beyond the arc.

Marist regained the lead before Pickrel took over and led the Spartans on a 13-2 run to finish the half.

Her 11 points leads all scorers. Junior Klarissa Bell failed to score in the first half, but grabbed seven rebounds, while sophomore guard Kiana Johnson led the team with four assists.

MSU held Marist’s leading scorer, Elizabeth Beynnon (12.2 ppg), to just two points on 1-5 shooting.
