One day after a report announced junior tight end Dion Sims will forego his senior season to enter the NFL Draft, Le’Veon Bell said he will be following in his teammate’s footsteps.
The junior running back announced via Twitter that he will not return for a senior season and will declare for the NFL Draft.
At 12:09 p.m., Bell tweeted, “as hard as it was to leave spartan nation, it was even harder to pass on such a great opportunity I have in front of me!”
The 6-foot-2 237 pound Bell is rated by ESPN’s Scouts Inc. as the second best running back in the draft after finishing with 1,793 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns this season.
Bell’s single-season rushing total is the second best in MSU history, along with the third most rushing attempts in a season in program history.
Defensive end William Gholston also submitted paperwork to the NFL Draft Advisory Board to learn where he could be selected, and is expected make a decision about his future public in the near future.
The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the NFL Draft is Jan. 15.
