Sophomore Madison Williams will miss the entire 2012-13 after re-injuring her left anterior cruciate ligament, or ACL, according to a press release from the MSU athletics department.

This will be the third straight season the 6-foot-7 center will miss because of her injuries. Last season, Williams missed all but three games after partially tearing her left ACL on Nov. 15 against IPFW, and missed the 2010-11 season after tearing her right ACL.

MSU women’s basketball head coach Suzy Merchant and team orthopedic surgeon Dr. Micheal Shingles will hold a media briefing at 5:15 p.m. tonight to further discuss the injury.

Williams came to MSU from high school as MSU’s second McDonald’s All-American in the program’s history. Last year, she averaged 3.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks through the first three games.

A surgery date has yet to be determined.
