Women's tennis heads to Ohio State

April 18, 2012

The MSU women’s tennis team (8-12 overall, 0-9 Big Ten) will travel to Ohio State on Friday to wrap up its regular season road matches. Friday’s match against the Buckeyes will begin at 2 p.m. in Columbus, Ohio.

On Sunday, the Spartans will return home to East Lansing for their regular season finale against Penn State at 11 a.m. at the MSU Outdoor Tennis Courts.

After falling to Iowa and No. 18 Nebraska last weekend, MSU is looking to get back on track in its final weekend of play, which is something the team has in common with the Buckeyes (8-14, 3-6). Ohio State also is looking to rebound this weekend after recently losing to Illinois and Northwestern.

The Nittany Lions (11-9, 3-6) will host Michigan before making the trip to East Lansing and facing the Spartans.

MSU opened its season with nine consecutive home matches, and the team came out with a 7-2 record in that time period. Spending most of their time at home, the Spartans have 15-of-22 matches at home — with five being against Big Ten opponents, and will finish with Penn State. Despite not having won a road match yet, they boast an 8-6 home record.
