It is almost the weekend. Classes are ending, and students are ready to unwind. Here is a roundup of events to attend during the weekend respite.

Diversity Dinner 2012

Enjoy a meal that is different from your typical cuisine this weekend at the Muslim Students’ Association’s, or MSA’s, Diversity Dinner 2012, which will be catered by Sultan’s Restaurant, 4790 S. Hagadorn Road.

The dinner, which will take place from 6:30-10:00 p.m. Saturday at East Lansing High School, 509 Burcham Drive, is open to both Muslim and non-Muslim students.

The event will include a speech by East Lansing native and professor of religious studies Mohammad Khalil as well as entertainment by comedian Amer Zahr and MSA members.

East egg hunt

Celebrate Easter this weekend with a holiday-themed, family friendly event at the Capitol.

Join members of leadership organization Lansing Jaycees and Lansing area residents for an Easter egg hunt on the lawn of the Capitol building at 11 a.m. Saturday.

The Easter Bunny and Sparty are expected to make an appearance at the event, which also will offer various children’s activities starting at 10 a.m. and leading up to the hunt.

Joe Hertler and the Rainbow Seekers

Enjoy a night of music by Michigan-based bands at Mac’s Bar, 2700 E. Michigan Ave., in Lansing.

Lansing-based folk band Joe Hertler and the Rainbow Seekers will perform Saturday night with eight other acts — Valentiger, Alco, Redbird, Red Pill, Skinny Black and Sloan Kettering, Parent The Seas, Aaron Stinson and DJ Rob Perry.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and tickets cost $10 in advance or $12 at the door.

“Red: An Evening of One Acts”

Enjoy multiple one-act plays this weekend in “Red: An Evening of One Acts” hosted by MSU’s Roial Players, which is a student organization made up of actors, directors, writers, filmmakers and improvisers.

The performances will take place at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the RCAH Theatre and focus on themes of love, loyalty, betrayal, courage and violence.

Tickets cost $5 at the door, and the show is estimated to last for about an hour.

Ace DeVille’s Fundraiser FREAKSHOW

Enjoy a drag show by some of Lansing’s best drag stars at a charity event hosted by Alpha Phi Omega, a community service fraternity.

Two performances will take place at 10:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Sunday at Spiral Video and Dance Bar, 1247 Center St., in Lansing.

Half of the money collected at the door will be donated to a local lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender and queer youth group.
