It is almost the weekend. Classes are ending, and students are ready to unwind. Here is a roundup of events to attend during the weekend respite.

Too much of a good thing

This weekend, the Spartan Dischords turn 30.

They will host the “30th Anniversary Show: Too Much of a Good Thing” concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Wharton Center’s Fairchild Theatre.

Student admission is $5, and tickets can be purchased at the door.

Dancing with the Spartans

MSU will lead its own rendition of the popular reality TV show “Dancing With the Stars” this weekend. The University Activities Board and MSU Ballroom Dance Team will host the first Dancing With the Spartans event.

A range of MSU faculty will compete with ballroom dance team members.

Doors open at 8:30 p.m.. Admission is free for students plus one guest per student.

Young Life 5K

Young Life Greater Lansing will host the Young Life 5K at 10 a.m. Saturday at Granger Meadows Park, 1445 Herbison Road, in DeWitt Charter Township, Mich.

The Michigan Running Foundation will be timing the event, and awards will be given to the top three places for each age group. Proceeds from the race will be given to Young Life in the Greater Lansing Area, an organization that focuses on mentoring youth and being a positive influence on younger generations.

Seniors rock

Friday at noon, the rock at Farm Lane will be open for graduating seniors to sign.

The rock signing is a part of the University Activities Board’s Senior Carnival, where seniors can stop by and participate in carnival games and eat free food.

A grand farewell

This Friday at 7 p.m., local band Alco will say goodbye.

The band will hold its farewell show and album release at The Loft, 414 E. Michigan Ave., in Lansing. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10.

Other bands performing that night include The Specktators and Elliot Street Lunatic.
