Green plays key role in US team's wins

August 15, 2011

As a member of the U.S. competing in the World University Games in Shenzhen, China, MSU senior forward Draymond Green has emerged as a leader and has been vital to the team’s 3-0 start.

In three victories, Green has averaged a little more than 10 points per contest. Green turned in arguably his best performance in the U.S. team’s 112-68 win Monday, when he scored 12 points, brought in 12 rebounds and collected four steals.

The U.S. next plays at 6 a.m. Tuesday, against Finland. The top two teams in each pool will advance to the medal quarterfinals on Saturday.

The U.S. team is coached by Purdue coach Matt Painter with Tennessee’s Cuonzo Martin and Butler’s Brad Stevens as assistants.
