Recruit Miller granted release

June 20, 2011

Onaje Miller has been released from a national letter of intent, which he signed in February with the MSU football team, Associate Athletics Director John Lewandowski confirmed Monday.

A 5-foot-10, 180-pound running back from Lansing Sexton, Miller was the first commitment to sign for Mark Dantonio’s 2011 recruiting class.

Although Miller missed most of his senior season with an ankle injury as a junior at Lansing Sexton, Miller accumulated 1758 yards on 216 carries with 26 rushing touchdowns. Miller also set a school record, scoring seven times as a kickoff/punt returner.

Scout.com ranks Miller as a four-star recruit (out of five) and notes that he is known for his “good overall combination between size and speed.” According to ESPN, Miller also considered Michigan, Wisconsin, Central Michigan and Cincinnati before he signed on with the Spartans.
