Tony Bucciferro, a junior pitcher for the MSU baseball team, earned Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honors Monday for throwing a complete-game shutout against Minnesota on Saturday at McLane Baseball Stadium at Kobs Field.

The right-hander delivered the third complete-game shutout of his career in a tight game against the Golden Gophers, which the Spartans won, 2-0. Bucciferro allowed five hits, recorded two strikeouts and retired 13 of the final 14 batters he faced. Saturday’s shutout was MSU’s first against Minnesota since 1991 and was game two of the Spartans’ first-ever three-game sweep of the Golden Gophers.
