Police investigate attempted abduction

October 13, 2010

Police are investigating an attempted abduction of a 12-year-old East Lansing girl that happened Wednesday morning.

The girl noticed a silver Chevrolet Impala with squeaky brakes was en route to her bus stop, according to a press release issued by the East Lansing Police Department. Near the intersection of Sunset Lane and Northlawn Street, the driver allegedly got out of the car and approached the girl. The driver, a heavyset white male, told the girl to get into the car in a demanding tone of voice. Instead of obeying, the girl screamed “No,” and ran to her house two blocks away.

The suspect has been described as 40 years old with shaggy hair and a protruding stomach. At the time he approached the girl, he was wearing black sweatpants and a black T-shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call the East Lansing Police Department at (517) 351-4220.
