Lucas, Summers named to Wooden Award list

MSU men’s basketball senior guards Kalin Lucas and Durrell Summers were named to the John R. Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 List, the Los Angeles Athletic Club announced Monday.

The award is one of the most prestigious in college basketball.

MSU is one of six schools with more than one player on the list.

Lucas averaged 14.8 points and 4.0 assists last season, leading MSU in both categories.

Summers averaged 11.3 points and 4.7 rebounds last season and was named Most Outstanding Player of the Midwest regional in the NCAA Tournament.

In addition to Lucas and Summers, the Big Ten also had eight players recognized, three of whom play for Purdue.
