Library to screen World War II film

April 5, 2010

The film “Open City” (Roma, Citta Apperta) will be shown from 7-9:30 p.m. Thursday in the North Conference Room W449 of the Main Library.

The 1945 movie was directed by Roberto Rossellini and documents the fates of ordinary Romans during the German occupation of World War II.

Considered an early landmark of cinematic realism, the movie is presented by Joe Francese, from the Department of French, Classics and Italian and in cooperation with the Italian American Club of Lansing.

The event is free and part of the spring semester library film series.
