Ticket prices for U2 announced

November 16, 2009

After ticket prices were announced Monday for U2’s June 30 Spartan Stadium concert, students said they expect the “lower priced” event to be a hit.

Prices are set at $30, $55 and $95, and tickets are slated to become available at 10 a.m. Monday, a release from concert promoter Live Nation said. Eighty-five percent of the tickets are priced at less than $95 and at least 10,000 tickets will be sold for $30, the release said.

Spartan Stadium can hold up to 75,000 people.

The concert is part of U2’s 360 tour, which aims to create an intimate experience for viewers in every seat in the stadium. The tour is focused on creating “unique staging configuration” and “excellent sight-lines” for concertgoers, the release stated.

Physics freshman Paul Wright said he thought the prices were reasonable.

“More people in general will buy tickets, because more people can afford cheaper tickets,” he said.

Political science senior Allison Briggs said although “diehard fans” would pay any price to see the concert, more college students will be attracted by lower prices.

“Lower ticket prices will get more students to go because (college) students are typically on a budget,”
she said.

Tickets will be available at livenation.com, at Ticketmaster locations or by phone at (800) 745-3000. MSU’s Breslin Center box office also will sell tickets for the concert, but only from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday.
