November 2, 2009

Crime on Halloween weekend fairly low

Halloween weekend was relatively quiet, with arrest numbers typical of a football weekend and no serious assaults, East Lansing police Sgt. Mark VandeWouwer said.

Twenty-one people were in jail Sunday morning, VandeWouwer said. Throughout the weekend, East Lansing police were called for seven assaults and nine fights compared to six assaults and seven fights in the weekend of Oct. 23-25.

VandeWouwer said there were no serious crimes, such as street robberies.

However, 28 minor in possession tickets were written throughout Halloween weekend compared to 12 in the preceding weekend.
