Local artists create ceramics for charity

October 13, 2008

Lansing-area potters have made more than 800 ceramic bowls for today’s Empty Bowls fundraiser, held by the Mid-Michigan Food Bank.

Those who donate $20 will receive soup, bread and a drink and the handmade bowls as part of the 18th annual fundraiser, located at The Center for the Arts, 425 S. Grand Ave., in Lansing.

Lunch at the event will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and dinner will be from 4:30-6:30 p.m. To purchase tickets, call Kathe Smith at (517) 702-3358.

The Mid-Michigan Food Bank helps distribute donated and salvaged food to the needy. Last year, the non-profit agency helped about 50,000 people.
