Dehaan, Keane get top MSU honors

The MSU women’s basketball team handed out its annual awards Sunday night.

Junior center Allyssa DeHaan and sophomore forward Kalisha Keane were named co-Players of the Year. DeHaan had 150 blocks on the season, breaking her own Big Ten record of 145 set last season. Keane is only the second freshman to be given this award, notching 460 points on the season and posting five double-doubles.

Sophomore guard Brittney Thomas earned Best Defensive Player of the Year while junior guard Mandy Piechowski was named Most Improved Player. Senior guard Alisa Wulff received the Spartan Character Award, junior center Lauren Aitch earned the Sixth Player Award, sophomore forward Taja Wilson was given the Spartan Hustle Award and junior guard Jasmine Holmes earned the inaugural Pat Canning Coaches Award as a walk-on.
