Student funeral plans announced

February 26, 2008

Funeral arrangements have been announced for Robert Atherton, an MSU senior who died Sunday evening after being taken off life support.

A visitation is planned for 3-9 p.m. today at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons funeral home in Shelby Township. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the same location.

Atherton stopped breathing early Saturday morning in an apartment on the 200 block of River Street.

Police performed CPR on Atherton for several minutes and transferred him to Lansing’s Sparrow Hospital, where he was put into an induced coma.

An autopsy was performed Monday, but results will take several weeks to obtain, Ingham County Medical Examiner Dean Sienko said.
