Embossing

February 12, 2008

The art of letter writing might be lost, but the elegance of letter embossing is not. Although the look is classy, embossing – the process of adding a 3-D embellishment to stationary or envelope – isn’t cheap. You will need to purchase a heat gun, embossing powder, an ink pad and stamps at a craft store before starting a project.

What you’ll need

A heat gun

Embossing powder

Embossing ink pad (clear ink is preferred but not required)

Stamps

Paper (cardstock is preferred)

Get started

1. Press your stamp to the ink pad and place the stamp on your desired area of paper.

2. Sprinkle the embossing powder on the image. Use a generous amount to ensure enough powder sticks to the ink.

3. Wipe excess powder away from image.

4. Heat the image until the powder melts and becomes shiny. Hold the gun about six inches away from the powder and paper and use a sweeping motion across the image.

Enjoy!
