Hello, my name is Colleen Davis

For Colleen Davis, co-owner of Gone Wired Cafe in Lansing, the best part of operating a coffeehouse is providing a space for students and residents to actively take part in the arts — from reading to writing.

“It’s very much a working atmosphere in a sense,” Davis said. “We do have people who come in to hang out, but often the function related to coming here is for people to get work done.”

Davis, who has always wanted to open a coffeehouse, said that focusing on the arts is what creates a world-class city and that the shop’s large seating allows community groups the space they need to meet – something that was missing in the community prior to the shop’s opening about two years ago.

“It’s nice to be able to offer the community one of the many things it needs,” Davis said.
