Lansing man killed on U.S. 127

November 25, 2007

A 44-year-old Lansing man was killed after being struck by a car at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday while aiding a fellow motorist in a one-car accident on U.S. 127 near the Trowbridge Road on-ramp.

The victim had stopped to help another driver who crashed into the guardrails on southbound U.S. 127, according to an East Lansing police news release. As he exited his vehicle, a driver who did not see the victim walking in the roadway struck him.

Emergency personnel provided medical treatment to the victim and transported him to Sparrow Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

East Lansing police said there were no injuries to the other drivers and passengers in the accident. The incident is currently under investigation.

The Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office will review the incident later this week and decide whether to press charges, East Lansing police Sgt. Jeff Murphy said.
