College parity
There have been two-gallon containers of Planters cashews that are less nutty than this college football season.
It seems that there is a new No. 1-ranked team every week.
Every team seems to be beatable, but teams such as Kansas and Hawaii are undefeated.
The Southern Cal dynasty is over, so instead we are left to ponder who is more deserving of playing in the national championship – South Florida or Boston College?
What happened?
How is Kentucky ranked? How can teams such as Michigan or USC lose to teams that wouldn’t even beat a run-of-the-mill Texas high school? And again, seriously — South Florida?
If this college football season has proven anything, it’s that nothing is predictable. Even the brightest analysts couldn’t have forecast this, and if they did, they probably would have been fired on charges of insanity.
This season makes about as much sense as Lou Holtz, in all his speech-slurring glory, having a television gig. It makes about as much sense as playing Russian roulette with six bullets. It makes about as much sense as picking South Florida to play in the national championship game.
Oh, wait.
