With an 0-2 start, no bowl wins since the 2002 Outback Bowl and a never-ending underground movement for his removal, Michigan football head coach Lloyd Carr is likely done after this season as King of the Rodents.
Carr will have to search for a job like so many others in this state do daily.
Given this set of circumstances, you almost feel bad for the guy. But we at The State News are a righteous and generous people – and that’s exactly why the sports desk is giving our buddy Lloyd a little boost in his job hunt by outlining a few post-Maize and Blue options.
Lloyd seemed to make frequent trips to the Rose Bowl, which is why employment at the Meijer floral market makes sense. Questions about his qualifications may prevent him from earning such a prestigious position, though, considering Carr doesn’t have a good track record handling roses. It’s no question that Carr understands his team relies on senior running back Mike Hart. Carr’s appreciation for Hart could be enough to land him a job working as a public relations officer with the American Heart Association. Those interviewing Carr, though, will probably wonder what happened to his team’s heart and decline to let him tear that organization apart from the inside as well.
Anti-Carr U-M fans have often accused Carr of being too conservative, which has Republican presidential hopeful Tom Tancredo calling Carr to run his campaign. The notoriously racist and outspoken Tancredo seems to be the best fit for Carr – Tancredo’s the only person crazy enough to hire him.
