I'm encountering problems with Atlantis Development Group after having lived in The Village at Chandler Crossings from 2002-05.
I graduated from MSU in 2005 and have been working in the Metro Detroit ever since. About one month ago, I received a letter from a collection agency, stating I owed Atlantis Development Group $90 from a past-due balance.
When I was contacted by the collection agency and ADG, I was told it was because of "wear and tear" of the unit where I lived in 2002. Upon graduating and moving out of The Village, I received a portion of my security deposit due to normal wear and tear, which was warranted. But now, ADG is saying I am supposed to pay another $90 for damages to the apartment from '02.
I'm writing because I feel like this company (ADG) must be exposed. I've written a few other letters and have been waiting to hear back from former tenants to see if they are receiving the same collection letter.
This company should be exposed because I feel they are assuming no former tenants will go through the hassle of challenging the balance, nor pay upwards of $200 per hour to contact legal help. In essence, I believe this is a way to generate revenue, in an otherwise struggling economic environment, with charges that are unwarranted.
